Nonfiction book club meeting #2

Only a few people attended the first book club meeting, but it still went well! We began digging through Robert Anton Wilson's Quantum Psychology.

You can find a new or used copy at Amazon, or download the free PDF here. If you'd like to print out the PDF, my roommates have an office printer for their small business and said we could use it. It would only cost a couple dollars per book. It would be about 100 sheets, with two book pages per sheet. Just email me.

We discussed the foreword and chapters 1-2. We'll probably quickly summarize those parts at the next meeting.

Let's try to discuss chapters 3-5 this time. You may have noticed that page 46 is missing -- and, therefore, so are the chapter 3 exercises. I created a Google doc with that text so you can view or print it.

I'll bring a few print-outs with the chapter exercises to each meeting, for those of us without a paper copy.

If Wednesdays will still be good for everyone, maybe we can try to meet twice per month, or every other week. I get the impression that people might need some time to read further into the book and digest the material before meeting again. I thought Feb 8 would be too soon, and I'll be out of town the week of Feb 15. So I'm setting a tentative date for meeting #2.

Folsom Street Coffee had a nice atmosphere, but they close at 8:00 pm. So I think Laughing Goat or Ozo (or the public library) would be better in the future. Make a suggestion!

Also, if you have a nonfiction book to suggest to the club, feel free to list it in the comments! We also have a thread going on the discussion board.

And we can discuss the book club on the new Brainy Characters Facebook group!

Update 3/5/12: I'll try to snag the large table in the back area at Brewing Market Coffee. Look for the smiley face on my laptop. Or you can reach my cell at [masked].

Anyone have suggestions for a venue? I'm still willing to hold it at my house but it's in SE Boulder. We could try the Laughing Goat, or the public library.

Sorry about the date change. I'll be out of town a week longer than expected. Just keep reading! And come up with suggestions for future books.

Those with the PDF might have noticed that page 46 is missing. Sadly that page contains the exercises for chapter 3. I got the text from someone with a paperback copy. Then I created a Google doc in case you want to view or print it: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1sY3o1dOIVFbkXtUq8SEZrr...

Due to flight complications I'm not going to make it back into town in time for the scheduled meeting. My apologies. Let's try this again! Hopefully enough people can make it on Wednesday, March 7. From here on out it'll be smooooooth.

I'm tempted to move this to Brewing Market Coffee near Baseline and Broadway, or even just have it in my house. Would anyone prefer that it be downtown?

No one responded about the location so I changed it. Next time I'll probably just have it at my house, unless Brewing Market is a perfect fit.
